PET is an abbreviation for Polyethylene Terephthalate , which is a particular kind of Polyester. PET is a material that can be heated easily and formed into packaging for different applications. The use of PET has many advantages
- Unbreakable
- Lightweight
- Clear & Transparent
- Good Barrier Properties (oxygen, water vapor, odour, UV, temperature) which can potentially be further improved by the use of food additives.
- Wide Range Of colours & shapes
The barrier properties of PET produced by means of the ISBM (injection Stretch Blow Moulding) process is generally superior to those of other material.
Advantage:
- PET is really light material resulting in an end product that is relatively lighter product as compared to other packaging material. This reduces transportation cost and less fuel is used to lower CO2 emission.
- PET is relatively smaller which occupies less space. This increases volume of total material to be transported in less fuel use.
- PET increases the shelf life of the content thanks to outstanding barrier characteristics which reduces waste.
- PET is less breakable than other material and it is derived from Injection Stress Blow Moulding (ISBM) process.
